60 Earth Hour

This is an international event started by WWF Australia in 2007. It is held on the last Saturday of March each year. All households and businesses are encouraged to turn off their non-essential ights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to combat climate change.

This event has been extended to other countries in 2008 like Thailand, Philippines, Denmark, USA, Colombia and etc.

In this year, 2009, about 82 countries and more than 2100 cities are committed to Earth Hour 2009, where the lights will be off from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. My company CEO has sent out an email last week, sharing with us that he is going to have a candle light dinner with his wife. So sweet!

I realised that Malaysia has done enough publicity about the 60 Earth Day that even my old aunts also knew about this world wide activity. We are going to turn the light off too! I am going to divorce my laptop for an hour, maybe taking some fresh air outside the house.

So what is your plan and what are you waiting for? Let's join the 60 Earth Day, everyone's effort count.

Glad that Malaysia is now part of the participant: http://www.earthhour.org/news/my:en/article?id=eh5516235457315522716
